1. Introduction

As an extra layer of security, MCC Island provides the ability to use standard two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect your account. This page provides a guide on how to setup and use 2FA on MCC Island.

STOP HERE. If you are unfamiliar with 2FA, please ask a parent, carer or trusted adult for advice. Incorrectly setting up 2FA may lock you out of using some MCC Island features. This guide assumes that you are already familiar with 2FA.

2. Setup guide

To set up 2FA on your MCC Island Minecraft account, follow these steps:

  1. Run the /auth setup command on MCC Island. This will put a map in your hotbar with a QR code. If you lose the map before finishing setup, you can re-run the command to return the map.
  2. Scan the QR code using the authenticator app of your choice in order to begin generating 2FA codes.
  3. When you have set up your MCC Island 2FA on your authentication app, run /auth complete <code>, replacing <code> with the 2FA code your app generates.
  4. Now you have finished setting up 2FA!

3. Authenticating in with 2FA

Once you have set up 2FA. You can authenticate with 2FA using /auth login <code> . This will last until you next disconnect. If you wish to unauthenticate, you can run /auth logout at any time. You can also use /auth status to check your status and /auth revoke to remove 2FA from your account (this can only be done when you are authenticated).

4. 2FA on MCC Island

Currently, 2FA is used on MCC Island in the following ways:

5. Support with 2FA

Ensuring that your 2FA code is always accessible is your responsibility. We recommend you take regular backups using your 2FA software. If you do encounter issues with 2FA, please contact the Support Team at https://support.mccisland.net/.

6. Other 2FA recommendations

We also recommend setting up 2FA to secure your other accounts. This will help keep your account safe, but isn’t a “silver bullet”. It is important to use 2FA alongside other security measures, such as a good anti-virus, secure passwords, and practicing internet safety.
